Pretty much since I saw this movie on a plane ride I have never forgotten the following sequence. It has changed shape and become more potent to me in my memory. It’s a shame that at this point it can’t live up to what I’ve turned it into. I wish I could stop watching it but I can’t. The message is still there though, if you look for it. Read into those brief expressions, that efficient dialog. There’s more there! Merry Christmas.

Hmm, pretty good. They should have gotten Seagal to play the part of that old Indian dog trainer. For a minute I thought they had.
To me, this movie seemed oriented toward children when it came out.
It is oriented towards kids. It’s a shitty movie. But for some reason I really gravitate towards the message. It’s also manipulative how they set you up to feel one way and then hit you with a sucker punch of guilt and lameness. At the same time it’s necessary because I feel like the girlfriend’s speech acts as a baseline for the way most people choose to operate. The movie lulls you into comfortably accepting the mundane option and then the dog trainer is like “fuck you Paul Walker”.
Doggies!
