To all my patient readers. This week I moved out of my studio space in Glassell Park. Although I dearly loved sharing a space with a bunch of positive and ambitious animator folks, the studio was about a 20 minute bike ride from my house, and an additional 20 minutes from where I’ve been working full time. It’s been nearly impossible to do my after-hours personal work. This is why I paused my Patreon account.
Today I finally set everything up in my house and got to work on drawing the back design for my Tarot set. I intend on putting at least an hour or two every night after coming home from my current animation gig, while also maintaining some sort of regular physical exercise (aka jiu jitsu).
I’ve been listening to the podcast “Cartoonist Kayfabe” and I guess it got me feeling extremely guilty about my lack of churning out personal work. I’ve been trying to figure out that balance, especially since I come home feeling fried from my job. Most days I want to just plop down on the couch and watch Terrace House on Netflix, but ultimately that’s not going to cut it. It may sound silly but if I want be a champ I gotta act like a champ. So here’s to properly pacing out the grind…
