Hey Jesse, it’s isaiah again. I know this is LONG overdue (sorry for the late response!), but I really wanna thank you so much for your response. It was really eye opening and enlightening to me. You’ve helped me realize many things as well as put things into perspective. I’m still afraid of the real world, but I can definitely say I’ve grown more confident in myself and that my actions towards life will be what makes me happy. In fact, I’ll be backpacking El Camino de Santiago in Spain in 28 days with some friends! Art-wise, I feel I’ve slowly but steadily been becoming better. I’ve come up with ideas (that I think are original) and have made note of them, some of which have concept strips/storyboards (I’ve also just had a lot of fun with them, which has to be one of the most important things). I’ll be honest, I can be VERY lazy at times (if not all the time haha) but when I do buckle down and decide to art it up, I try to put my heart and soul into it. I’m still concerned about developing my own art style (as would almost any other artist I would think), but my sole intention is to just visualize what I’ve thought up in my mind (even if my drawings may copy another artist’s style), and when I just brush the surface of what I’ve thought of, and have actually showed what I want to see, I can’t help but smile and feel accomplished. I will never stop growing thanks to you. I will always strive to better myself (i’ve also been trying to diversify how I create art by using different methods/mediums… I’m starting to really enjoy watercolor!) visually, expressively, and all that jazz, and I will also fulfill my life goals/wishes (I would love it more than anything to work for Cartoon Network). I understand how hard things will be, but I won’t let that stop me. Art has been the one thing that I haven’t given up on, and I plan to keep at it! Thank you so much for your inspiration and advice! It truly means the world to me! I would still love to meet you in person someday, or again, just have a conversation with you!
P.S. I just found out that you recently worked your last day at Cartoon Network, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
P.S.S. So I know this might be weird, but if you’d be cool with this, I was wondering if you would be my mentor for art/music? I’m sure you’re very busy, but honestly, any time at all learning from you would be the best!

For those who don’t want to click on the link, it’s photos and some description of the preservation work going on at Pasaquan, the life work of outsider artist St. EOM (Eddie Owens Martin). Lots of the images remind me of things we’ve seen in Forming, so I wanted to ask about it.

Jesse, is St. EOM one of your influences, or did you and he just tap into the same parts of the universal unconsciousness?
