Good question! I don’t know yet, but I’m getting close to finding out. Under a certain amount of pressure from my future French publisher, today I re-organized my story outline and chucked out all the notes that no longer applied. The process of writing Forming is a mix of research, planning and improvising as a means of keeping things as enjoyable as possible for me. In the improvisation I find better and better (hopefully) solutions to story arcs than what was original planned. As a result I end up with a mess of discombobulated notes that no longer makes sense.
I was dreading having to do a final pass and it was slowing down my ability to move forward with the last 3/4. I finally got the courage to do it today and I started busting out storyboards after. I’m making a promise to myself to finish storyboarding the rest of Forming in the next two weeks. Then I will know how many pages I have left to go to the finish line.
The end of Forming will be an incredible loss for me. I’ve been living in this world since 2009. It’s been a source of comfort throughout my time in LA. I’m not sure what I’ll do after it’s done. I have some small seeds of ideas but I’m not sure if they have legs. Anyway I won’t have to worry about that just yet.
I’ll let y’all know when I figure it out. However it goes I may post the final 10 pages all at once so it feels climactic.
