He framed it in a way that I hadn&#8217;t heard before; by describing the stages of Web 1.0 through Web 2.0 to the possible true and false promises of Web 3.0. <\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s something I hadn&#8217;t clearly considered, but subconsciously manifested in the design of this website, as an approximate holdout of Web 1.0 aesthetics and function. <\/p>\n<p>Myself and the friend I was speaking to blossomed in our artistic identities in the early 2000&#8217;s age of isolated island websites belonging to artists or artist collectives such as Paper Rad. At this time retweeting was impossible, so finding fun shit on the internet meant going to your friend&#8217;s house and being shown something that they found. My memories of this time and my feelings about this version of internet are 90% positive. <\/p>\n<p>My first real feelings of negativity began to creep in with the introduction of Myspace and the train of social media platforms that followed. Through instantaneous, unlimited access it seems we&#8217;re coming near to completely dismantling fun, discovery, and human dignity in the way we callously treat each other online. Web 2.0 in many ways feels like a failure to me, at least in this moment. <\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t really understand what Web 3.0 is.
