I’ve been secretly forming a plan for a year or so on my next phase in life, and how to achieve independence from the major studios in order to make work that speaks directly from me. It may have started even before that, and you can probably see hints of it in my previous posts here in the Lodge and the Temple.<\/p>\n
The covid era has been a strange time that has forced me to make serious assessments about what I’m supposed to be doing. The fact that I couldn’t find work for 8+ months made me realize that things in the industry were changing significantly, with shorter season runs leading to less job security and so on… With that sort of paranoia about my future career looming I realized I had to try and make some big moves. The things I’d been theorizing\/daydreaming about I actually had to try and do. That thing being making independent work, which could lead to making a feature film and perhaps even starting a studio where I could support creators who otherwise have nowhere else to develop their ideas.<\/p>\n
How to do it? Well first I’m going to start small, by developing and refining my idea for the Jesus 2 short. Jesus 2 is an unpitchable idea that I’ve tried sharing with Sony, Netflix and Titmouse and no one seemed to understand it or want to touch it.
