Doing things like not listening to podcasts while in the shower, getting rid of my iphone, re-establishing a relationship with my record player, reading fiction again, standing in line and just staring into the nothingness while waiting to buy groceries instead of looking at Instagram. In the month that I&#8217;ve been doing this, I&#8217;ve found the moments of boredom forcing my mind to think creatively in order to occupy itself. Boredom forces action either in the body or in the mind. I&#8217;ve realized how important of a tool it is and how much of it is lost if you stay plugged into the feed.<\/p>\n<p>One of the positive things that has happened is I&#8217;ve been digging back into my music collection and re-discovering albums I haven&#8217;t listened to in many years. I&#8217;ve also been slowly collecting new music and\u00a0 completing albums that maybe I only had a few tracks from. One of the key bands I recently fell back in love with is <strong>Supersister<\/strong>, who I only owned a couple scattered tracks from. I realize that for some of my readers, the idea of owning tracks might seem stupid at this point? To that I say good luck finding the complete catalog of Picchio Dal Pozzo on Spotify beyatch!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cH6i0f5vXsY\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This track gives me a little bit of Wigwam vibes, especially off their album Being. The comically sinister vocals and marimba evoke the image of hopping along through an evil forest while the rest of the arrangements work tightly in unison. I feel like calling it unison prog (ha) as opposed to the sprawling prog that features individual players flexing their muscles. Mike Oldfield&#8217;s best pop-prog had this sort of arrangement attitude where all units worked toward a textured maze of interlocking pieces. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been trying to learn to embrace boredom as a means of accessing creativity and creative appreciation lately.
