I’m not too far off from finishing the Majors, but I wasn’t actively looking into printing processes just yet. However, I’ve been keeping my eye open for clues into how I will approach the process. A studiomate of mine showed me the beautifully produced Pixel Spirit Deck by Patricio Gonzalez Vivo.<\/p>\n

Notice that gold lining on the edges oohhh… I wrote Patricio an email about how he produced the deck and he never wrote me back. Stop big-timing me bro.<\/p>\n

Today I was scanning instagram and I came across David Jien’s recent post about a limited print he’s producing in LA. It looks like this:<\/p>\n

The printing house is located downtown. I figure if they can produce a holographic foil figure that pops like that , they can probably do a bang up job on my tarot deck. So I’m going to schedule an appointment to see if they can help me produce a nice ass deck.<\/p>\n

I’m still trying to determine the exact dimensions of the cards. I’m also considering rounding off the corners, or creating a geometric angle. For example:<\/p>\n

The Fool as it currently exists, looks like this –<\/p>\n

But that outer boarder is just an indicator of a possible edge of the card. So there are some possibilities here.<\/p>\n

This is a rough idea of an angular card shape that would mimic the font style. The orange line indicates the physical edge of the card. It wouldn’t be orange.<\/p><\/div>\n

Or the round style which is a modern popular approach that avoids edges getting blunted.<\/p><\/div>\n

Or the Rider Waite style that has the hard angles framing the drawing, but with rounded card edges. Obviously the first example is the most unique and 8 sides has all sorts of numerological implications.<\/p><\/div>\n
