In the Jean Noblet version, it’s a leafy frond thing. In the Camoin/Jodorowsky version it looks like a sword. The yellow sword is further corroborated by other versions that I’ve seen from the early 1700’s, so it’s not just Jodorowsky making some stuff up. He describes the purpose of this shape as a sublimation of the wand’s energy/desire into the more practical/focused agency of the sword realm.

I’ve taken some key ideas of growth, and the fiery loins of creation, as well as combining the idea of sublimation with the story of Aaron’s rod (Moses’ brother) which turned from a staff into a snake and then back. Also implying the center pillar of the Sephiroth Tree which is the direct rod connecting divine inspiration to material manifestation and human will. I believe the eye of the snake can stand in for the sword as it implies self knowledge and the material senses that can guide the hand of the club with more precision. That’s just my thought.

In several versions of the Marseille’s Ace of Wands, there is some sort of yellow shape coming out of the side of the branch.
