I sort of went into a dark mental place yesterday night, reminiscing about a awkward meeting I had with Adult Swim development a few years back. I was walking around and just stewing about it. I also got an email from Disney saying they weren’t interested in seeing a pitch for Smuggle Brothers (even though they were the original people interested in Smuggle Brothers a year ago). <\/p>\n

\nSo my brain kept getting darker and darker. By the end of the night I was lying on the couch and unable to get my head into a neutral place of detached contentment (which is what I’m usually shooting for). My girlfriend came over and helped talk me out of my pit and into brainstorming some options. So here’s what I’m thinking…<\/p>\n

I have a meeting with Nickelodeon regarding Smuggle Brothers this month. I don’t think it’s going to go anywhere if Cartoon Network didn’t get it. So I’m assuming it’s a no go with Nick. Even if it is a go, I’m not sure if I want them to hold me back creatively. So if that meeting goes south, I’m going to post the storyboard here as it is. <\/p>\n

Then I’m going to re-write the storyboard and take out all the hand holding, child-catering aspects of it, and turn it into an animatic. I will save up enough money (somehow) to buy back the rights to Smuggle Brothers from Cartoon Network and I will produce it as an independent animated pilot after assembling a small team to work on it. <\/p>\n

As of now I don’t have enough money to buy back the rights to it, but I’m not going to worry about that until the animatic is finished. That’s my secret plan, Temple readers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
