I decided to post this in the Lodge so all my supporters can read what’s finally up with my Smuggle Brothers pilot concept. Temple readers by now know that I pitched a final storyboard to the head execs at Cartoon Network yesterday. Today I got the call that they are passing on further development of the idea. <\/p>\n

The reason they gave me was that they felt the show was too sophisticated for kids. This was a pretty big fear of mine as I was writing it. I loaded it with speculations on love and hate, on death and the fear of the outside world. There was a lot of philosophical\/mystical inner monologuing and all that pure “jmoyns shit”. While writing the episode, I didn’t want to give them a diluted impression, so I pretty much let it all hang out, figuring I could dial it back if they wanted me to. My thought was to hit them with my big guns and see if I could somehow get it through their gate by essentially crashing through it. Anyway it didn’t work! <\/p>\n

OKAY so what is my plan now? Well, to continue busting out more Forming pages. Hopefully now I will have more time to do that. I also plan on buying back the rights to Smuggle Brothers, which will cost me several thousand dollars, although much less than if they had paid me to develop further. Then I plan on pitching it to Netlflix, in a possibly more adult form. <\/p>\n
