<\/a><\/p>\nSo this passage set off a chain of research into various occultists’ associations with the name of God. It gets super murky and my notes are all over the place. One day I made this diagram based on my Jodorowsky readings:<\/p>\n
One month later and I can’t figure out where I found a clear association from him between the Tarot suits and the Tetragram. It could be I intuitively combined Jodorowsky’s Tarot diagrams with Eliphas Levi. Now that I’m looking at my notes again, it seems like I did this. <\/p>\n Which is funny because reading through Jodorowsky’s Tarot book again, he ribs Levi’s Tarot Suit associations a bit. He also criticizes the whole notion of comparing the suits to the 4 Qabbalic worlds. But then he totally uses them (see his description of the Death card)! I guess that’s just his style. <\/p>\n Anyway, I wanted to get a handle on the spread of beliefs about these associations in order to execute a convincing visual sequence. All roads lead to the final Major Trump card: The World, who is surrounded on 4 corners by representatives of the 4 suits, who also carry with them a multitude of loaded meaning. <\/p>\n Gerard Encausse AKA Papus was the first dude to break down the four elements into associations with the mystical sound of God, with his ROTA diagram.:<\/p>\n Okay so I tried to organize a comparative list of different author’s takes on all of this. Sorry if my list is not so organized looking. <\/p>\n Levi’s associations are a complete mess from what I was able to suss out. I can’t really make sense of it. Aleister Crowley and Jodorowsky differ (if you put Jodo in Aleister’s chart of Tetragram to card suits) in that to Crowley, Cups+Water = Eagle and Swords+Air= Man whereas Jodorowsky belives that Cups+Water=Man and Swords+Air= the Eagle. They also disagree about the associations with the Qabbalic worlds except for the world of Pentacles which would obviously be the lowest material world (Assiah). <\/p>\n If I base Jodorowsky’s Qabbalic Worlds to Suits associations I can apply that to Paul Foster Case’s Qabbalic Worlds to YHWH associations and get this comparative list:<\/p>\n FYI the Qabbalic worlds start from 1 (lowest) and ascend to 4 making Crowley’s order seem problematic and Jodorowsky’s order surprisingly logical. <\/p>\n This is how I write sometimes, folks. <\/p>\n EDIT! It slightly alters my feelings but I just can’t jive with Crowley putting Man\/Angel, Swords, and Air together.
