I’d like to thank the two Tarot commenters who recommended these books to me. I’m almost done reading the history section of Paul Huson’s book that really sharpens my understanding of how the Etteilla deck emerged, and how it completely changed the game of Tarot usage to this day and our general mis-understanding of its origins: Stuff that’s been invalid since the discovery of the Rosetta Stone. I feel like I’m finally able to put these images on a more comprehensible timeline now and can use some of his theories to pay homage to their origins if I think it’ll help. <\/p>\n

The Paul Foster Case book is proving immensely helpful in my understanding of where A.E. Waite and Crowley are coming from with their esoteric images and associations. <\/p>\n

The Tree of Life and Hebrew alphabet associations are fun connections to make and can strengthen the bridge between your readings and the wonder of our existence, but I’m still not sure if they’re absolutely essential to the images of the cards. Which is why I haven’t included Hebrew letters on the cards. I lean toward the exoteric images of the Marseille for that reason. The Marseille (Marjors at least) ultimately require less insider baseball knowledge and are therefore more universal and open to interpretation once you get past how crude and simple they seem at first. <\/p>\n

On the other hand I find the mystical occult research super engrossing and fun. I’m also basically a maximalist and it’s hard to resist piling on as many loaded images as possible in a card. So we’ll see where my readings take me and how my approach to making these cards change over the coming months…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
