Today while I was writing and working on Forming, I had an exciting “Easter Egg Moment” as I call it. Since it was so clear, and hadn’t happened in a while, I thought I would comment on it. Easter Egging is my name for placing an image or moment in a narrative without understanding what it means, only that it feels (strongly) like it probably<\/em> means something. It’s a trust exercise I have as part of building an ongoing submissive relationship to a higher intelligence while writing. <\/p>\n

On a related note: I ran into Ron Reg\u00e9 Jr tonight at a panel discussion about witch, new-age, pagan, crystal magick ideas. I complimented him on his reboot of old Wonder Woman<\/a> strips. Since I was totally unfamiliar with those old strips, it was pretty exciting to see how the original WW used submission to gain power. I find this idea exciting, not in a BDSM kind of way, but that by submitting to a power greater than yourself, you can be imbued with higher knowledge and strength. Wonder Woman was totally into peace and humility and mystery school initiation business. <\/p>\n

So today I was working with an image that suddenly felt super familiar. I realized that this image was something I had placed in the story way early, without fully understanding it or knowing whether or not it would be integral to the “plot” of Forming. Now, years later this image is coming back and revealing its meaning in an elegant way. <\/p>\n

Most of the process of writing and drawing is not something I describe as fun. The mental effort to produce stories that I’m satisfied with, feels sort of “good-ish” but not fun. I don’t think drawing has really ever been fun for me. Maybe when I was 5. It’s more like addictive bodybuilding or something, and then sometimes it’s like emotionally gutting myself. I semi-recently came across some lame advice post on Tumblr about how drawing should be fun, and if it’s not then you’re basically doing it wrong and should stop. Some super dumb bullshit like that. Anyway if drawing is always fun for you, then you’ve figured something out that I haven’t so good work! <\/p>\n
