I think I figured out the staging of the Fool as well as some super basic color ideas that I will improvise as I work on the final piece. <\/p>\n

The staging is a bit of a compromise between the possibilities (positive and negative) of the Waite image and the color symbolism of the Marseille image mixed with my optimism about the character in general. <\/p>\n

Also I still have to figure out what dimensions I’m going to render these in. I’ll have that figured out this week. It’ll most likely adhere to a traditional size ratio so the cards can be read with concepts of sacred geometry and numerology in mind. Oh and also the names will be in English, but I will stay true to the eccentric numbering system of the Marseille. <\/p>\n

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON A.E. WAITE<\/p>\n

I think I will write a longer post regarding my thoughts on A.E. Waite as a scholar and what he did to increase the accessibility of the Tarot symbols, especially for the minor arcana. I have deeply mixed feelings about his contributions, and I certainly find his writing style odious, opaque and pretentious. His annotations in the translated works of Eliphas Levi are obnoxious and reflect negatively on his persona, which makes me question his work on the Tarot, especially his decision to switch certain cards around, as well as the unwarranted pessimism of many of his cards. That said, in doing my comparative studies on the Tarot, I’ve found Waite and Pamela Colman Smith’s interpretations inspiring in a very real way.
