Hey Jesse, I want to thank you, Ako, and really everyone involved for such a great episode tonight. It was emotional, hilarious, and just straight up informative about Ooo’s/characters’ backgrounds.

Also wanted to ask something about the Regression Simulator’s intro. The voiceover there reminded me of the opening to the movie “Beyond the Black Rainbow” and I was wondering if it was maybe a reference to that (not that cool videogame intros didn’t exist before the film). Either way, thanks a bunch for making your comics and AT – and have a good one.

Oh man, that was unexpected!

We’re all on the forums expecting Finn backstory, some bright sparks make mention of the possibility of Shoko being his past life but we brush it off because ghost, I say that if Peebles is gonna get an appearance it will most likely only be minor, and then IT AIRS AND FLIPS EVERYTHING.

But it was excellent. It’s really good how you and Ako can make us have strong emotional attachments to oneshot characters, and how you can just randomly explore Oooish past with past lives, heheh. You pitched this episode, right?

This certainly had your style in it, Jesse. Strong presence there. Especially with design and character. But it also had some very Akoish emotional elements. At least, that’s what I think. And this episode is gonna stay with us for a while. It was definitely funny, but more than anything *immersive*.

It rhymes with “schmatuatory shmape.”

Let’s put it this way: if Bubbline is too controversial to be acknowledged in an episode, the show’s creators aren’t touching what you want with a ten-foot pole.

Apologies to Mr. Moynihan for getting ranty, but certain aspects of fandom really bug me.

On a different note, I liked tonight’s episode. I appreciated seeing a disabled female character (not something you see very often in media in general), and I thought her story was compelling, if brief. The light character development with PB was a nice touch as well.

Also a little Cloud Atlas-y with the idea that past lives could be lived with different races and genders.

I love how you guys have PB’s character through the last few seasons. From before The Suitor, through to Wizards Only Fools, Sky Witch and now The Vault she only gets more enigmatic. It’s quite hard as a mortal to fully grasp her role in Ooo, but I can’t wait for what else is planned.

If Finn and PB ever do become an item, it’ll be an relationship that has transcended space-time and mortal life spans, which is totally romantic. But that’s an If heh. The fact that Finn is a hero is thanks to PB’s actions in a past life is also pretty mindblowing.

Brilliant episode! The green ghost girl, one of my favorite wacko things crammed into the series so far has now a touching back story. Man, there was so much mythology from the past, it’s astonishing.

Oh and I gess him with bubble gum is so much better, and when she turned 14 she was really however old she was and she is like 900 so they would, and its the land of ooo I dont think there laws like that anymore, and by next season I think finn is going to be 16 so bro it could happen

Finn is really a reincarnation of Shoko or not?

My favourite episode of adventure time for a while (and probably a lot of people’s, I imagine).

The tiger seems really familiar – do you know what inspired it? Is it a reference to something in my cultural / visual memory or just my mind trying to recognise things? (Or did I see it in a past life…?)

Additionally im really looking forward to seeing andy’s boarding style.

Finn’s past lives seem to explain a couple seemingly random things: the comet we see pass by Earth after the war (Finn) and the reason butterflies are his astral beast. Neat. Not sure about the pink blob — looked like crystals around it, maybe something from the unused Crystal Dimension in “The Lich” storyboard.

You’re not a s***ty writer Jesse, you’re an awesome writer, and don’t let anyone else make you think otherwise. I look forward to the rest of the Adventure Time episodes you wrote and/or still writing and any of your other future endeavors.

I just wanted to say that I adore your work. I found your comics years ago, and read them voraciously, so I was really excited when I first read about you working on a cartoon. I’ve been watching Adventure Time with my kids since day one, thanks to you. Now, I live in a different state, but every week, I Skype with my kids and watch AT together. I can’t wait to watch this episode with them, because the episodes that you board are our favorites.

Thanks again, man. I owe you for giving us something phenomenal for us to share and talk about. When they get older, they’ll have you to thank for a lot of great childhood memories. I can’t wait until they’re old enough to read about the really mind-bending shit in Forming!
